Direct Billing
What is Direct Billing?
Direct billing is when your appointment is billed to your insurance company on your behalf. Many insurance companies cover Registered Massage Therapy, however each policy is different. Some companies do not allow for direct billing, or some require a doctor’s note. Please find out prior to the appointment the details of your policy. Once your insurance company has been billed, you will need to pay for any remaining fees at the time of the appointment. If for whatever reason the claim is rejected or cannot be put through, please be prepared to pay for the appointment in full.
What is the Direct Billing process?
1. Check with your insurance provider to confirm that they cover RMT services and allow direct billing. It is also recommended to find out the amount of coverage provided, or whether you are required to pay a deductible.
2. Book your appointment and fill out the insurance information on the form that is sent with your intake form.
3. Fill out and sign the direct billing authorization form. This form is specific to your insurance company, and it will be sent to you by e-mail once your insurance information has been received.
4. Before the treatment begins, the insurance details you provided will be confirmed, the claim will be submitted, then payment will be taken for any remaining portion of the visit fee.

Direct Billing FAQ
Do you direct bill ICBC, WorkSafe or MSP?
At this time, direct billing is not available for ICBC, Worksafe or MSP.
Can you check what my policy covers?
The insurance submission websites are not meant to check for details of your policy. Please contact your insurance company directly for more information about your plan. This is also useful so that there are no surprises when your maximum coverage has been reached or if you are required to pay a deductible.
Are you able to direct bill two insurance plans?
Currently, direct billing is only available for your primary policy. Once you pay the remainder of your appointment fee, a receipt will be provided for you to submit to your secondary policy.
What happens if the insurance portals aren’t working?
Occasionally the insurance submission websites (also called portals) used to submit claims will be down, and direct billing will be unavailable. In the event of this, you will pay out of pocket for your session and an e-mail receipt will be provided for you to submit to your plan.
